Welcome to Shiptonthorpe United Association Football Club

shiptonutd-trans-sqrShiptonthorpe United AFC is a volunteer football organisation providing football development opportunities for people in Market Weighton and surrounding area. We are affiliated to the East Riding County FA, are a Level 2 Charter Standard Football Club, and have been in existence in our current form since 1972.

We currently have approximately 100 players who participate in football from the age of 5 to 16. These comprise of 1 mixed junior team playing 5 a side, 1 mixed junior team playing 7 a side, 1 mixed junior team playing 9 a side, 3 girls junior team’s playing 9 a side, 2 mixed junior teams playing 11 a side, an Under 19’s team and a Senior Team. We also have a mini soccer development squad (ages 5 – 7) as well as a girl’s development squad (ages 9-11). All of our coaches undertake FA coaching qualifications and all volunteers who work with children are checked with the Criminal Records Bureau.

All of our teams play in the Hull and District Youth Football League (formerly the Hull Boys Sunday Football League), the City of York Girls Football League or the York Motor Sports Village Minor League. All teams train and play matches at either The Market Weighton School, The Henry Thirsk Amenity Centre Pocklington  or at Shiptonthorpe Village Playing Fields.

HDYFLEach age group is usually run by a parent of a player in each respective team, under the guidance and support of the Club Management Committee. A Junior Manager is appointed by the Management Committee for each age group.

Shiptonthorpe United prides itself on offering enjoyable sporting activity for all, with a particular focus on the development of children to supplement their schooling activities. We hope children and parents will have a long and happy relationship with the club. We are committed to running the club as efficiently and professionally as it is possible to do so for an amateur football club run entirely by volunteers. The aim is very much dependent upon the contribution and good behaviour of all involved in Shiptonthorpe United by following the clubs code of conduct for managers, players and supporters.

Most people who join Shiptonthorpe United stay with us for many years and we hope you and your family will similarly be involved for many years to come. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact one of the members of the management committee whose details can be found on the contacts page.

Yours in Sport,
Shiptonthorpe United AFC Management Committee
